Utilising over 25 years’ experience in forensic toxicology as a practitioner, business leader, owner and global advisor, Elliott Forensic Consulting provides a range of services for professionals, organisations and governments. Biography

Dr Simon Elliott has over 20 years’ experience in forensic toxicology and is a Consultant Forensic Toxicologist, independent Business Consultant and Director of Elliott Forensic Consulting Ltd. He was previously the Director of Global Forensics at Alere Inc (now part of Abbott) (2017-2018) having also been the founder and Managing Director of Forensics Ltd (ROAR Forensics, subsequently Alere Forensics) in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK (2008-2017). An ISO 17025 accredited and Chamber of Commerce Award winning business providing toxicology services to HM Coroners and Police Forces across England, Wales and Northern Ireland with referrals from the USA, Australasia and Africa. Dr Elliott previously worked as a Clinical Scientist in the NHS at Birmingham City Hospital for over 10 years specifically involved in clinical and forensic toxicology as Section Head of Forensic Toxicology. Over the years, Dr Elliott has advised and consulted with international professionals as well as governmental and private organisations in the Middle East, West Indies, Europe, Australasia, Africa and North America.

Dr Elliott is a Visiting Professor in Forensic Toxicology at King’s College London and holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bath and a PhD in Biochemical Toxicology (studying GHB) from the University of Birmingham. He is a Chartered Scientist (CSci) and European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) as well as being a member of a number of professional organisations, including The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT) – Executive Board member, the LTG (London Toxicology Group), Chartered Society for Forensic Science (Professional Member, MCSFS), Association of Clinical Biochemistry (Chartered Scientist, CSci) and Royal Society of Chemistry (Member, MRSC) in addition to being a founder and Chair of the UK & Ireland Association of Forensic Toxicologists (UKIAFT). As well as being an Associate Editor of the Journal of Analytical Toxicology and an Editor of Wiley’s WIREs Forensic Science (Toxicology) and Clarke’s Analysis of Drugs and Poisons, Dr Elliott is the author of over 70 scientific publications, articles and book chapters. He has presented at many national and international meetings (including as plenary speaker) as well as presenting expert evidence for many years in Coronial, Civil and Criminal Court. A member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Expert Committee on Drug Dependence, he also advises the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), especially regarding new psychoactive substances (NPS).
